Baphomet is associated with the Sabbatic Goat drawn by Éliphas Lévi which is a half-human and half-animal creature both male and female, representing the "symbolization of the equilibrium of opposites" such as good and evil, on and off, life and death etc. It is similar to the depiction of The Devil in early tarot.
