Herb of the Month
Rowan Berry
Inspired by the sun, this oil encourages psychic protection healing, success, luck, protection, and power.
This herb has a rich association in all modern Celtic literatures. In the ogham alphabet of early Ireland the letter L was signified by luis [rowan].
The Druids of Ireland favored favored hawthorn, rowan and yew over the oak., favored by the Druids of Gaul. The Tuatha Dé Danann were thought to have brought rowan to Ireland from Tir Tairngire [The Land of Promise].
Rowan is one of Europe’s most revered and magical trees. It holds a history of protective magic, especially against curses and malefic influence. The berries enhance communication with those in the spirit realm, namely elementals, ancestors and ancestral guides.
Burn the dried ground berries for during deity invocation. The anti-oxidant rich berries are best ingested as a decoction [tea, tincture, etc.], and it’s never recommended to consume the berries raw due to the toxicity of the seeds.
