Oil of the Month
Grounding Oil
When life becomes overwhelming, our energy can begin to scatter. We may feel restless, overstimulated, unfocused, emotionally untethered, or as though our minds are moving faster than our bodies can follow.
Grounding Oil is created to call that energy home.
Grounding reconnects us with the physical body, the earth beneath us, and the present moment. In magical traditions, grounding is often practiced before and after ritual or spellwork. This oil helps the practitioner establish a stable energetic foundation while both raising and releasing excess energy.
But grounding is equally valuable outside of ritual. It can be practiced whenever life feels chaotic, when you're moving through transition, before making an important decision, or simply when you need to become present again.
Grounding Oil can be used to dress candles, anoint ritual tools, add intention to grounding practices, or anoint the body. Try placing a small amount on the soles of the feet or pulse points before meditation, ritual, divination, or difficult conversations.
Magical Intentions
Grounding • Stability • Protection • Centering • Focus • Strength • Presence • Rooting • Balance
To work with the oil intentionally, take a moment to feel your feet against the earth. Breathe slowly and imagine your energy returning from all the places where your attention has been scattered.
As you anoint yourself or your candle, say:
I return to my body.
I return to the earth.
I return to myself.
I am rooted. I am present. I am here.
Grounding does not ask us to stop moving. It gives us a launch pad; somewhere solid from which to move forward.
Herb of the Month
Clove
Warm, fiery, protective, and unmistakably potent, clove has long been valued as both a culinary spice and a powerful ingredient in folk magic and spiritual practice.
The dried flower buds of the clove tree carry an intense warming energy, making clove especially suited for workings involving protection, courage, prosperity, purification, attraction, and personal power.
Magically, clove is often used when we need to strengthen something. It can be added to protection work to reinforce boundaries, incorporated into prosperity magic to encourage abundance, or used when courage and determination are needed to move through difficult circumstances. Its fiery nature also makes it useful for breaking through stagnant energy and restoring motivation.
Clove has a long history as a valuable trade spice, at times considered extraordinarily precious. Perhaps fittingly, its magical associations often include wealth, luck, success, and the preservation of what is valuable to us.
In protection work, whole cloves can be carried in charm bags, placed near entrances, incorporated into incense, or added to protective jars and spellwork. Clove may also be used in workings for friendship, attraction, confidence, and strengthening one's personal presence.
Magical Correspondences
Element: Fire
Planet: Jupiter; sometimes associated with Mars
Energy: Protective, warming, strengthening
Magical Uses: Protection, prosperity, courage, purification, attraction, luck, success, friendship, strength, banishing stagnant energy
Ways to Work With Clove: Add whole cloves to spell jars and charm bags, burn ground clove sparingly in incense blends, incorporate it into prosperity workings, place cloves near thresholds for protection, or add them to seasonal simmer pots.
Clove reminds us that grounding does not always mean becoming quiet. Sometimes grounding means returning to our strength, occupying our body fully, and remembering that we are capable of standing firmly in our own power.
Stone of the Month
Garnet
Deep, earthy, and rich with life-force energy, garnet is a stone traditionally associated with vitality, protection, passion, courage, and devotion. While its deep red varieties are the most familiar, garnet actually describes a family of minerals occurring in several colors.
Energetically, garnet has a wonderful dual nature: it is both grounding and activating. Rather than grounding by slowing everything down, garnet helps bring scattered energy back into the body so that it can be directed with intention.
Its strong association with blood, fire, and vitality has connected garnet symbolically with life force, survival, passion, sexuality, courage, and physical presence. It is particularly suited to times when you feel depleted, disconnected, uncertain, or unable to find your footing.
Garnet has also historically been regarded as a protective traveler's stone and has been associated with safe journeys, loyalty, friendship, and returning home. In magical practice, it can therefore be a beautiful ally for anyone moving through a period of transition while trying to remain anchored in themselves.
Metaphysical Correspondences
Element: Earth and Fire
Planet: Mars
Chakra: Root
Energy: Grounding, strengthening, revitalizing
Magical Uses: Protection, courage, passion, vitality, commitment, manifestation, confidence, sexuality, perseverance
Ways to Work With Garnet: Carry it when you need courage or stability, place it on an altar for grounding and protection, meditate with it at the root chakra, incorporate it into manifestation work, or keep it nearby during periods of transition.
Garnet teaches us to root deeply enough that we are able to move forward without losing ourselves.
