Originally lucifer was a phrase meaning "morning star" or "light bringer" associated with the planet Venus and the son of the goddess of dawn aurora and depicted as a man bearing a torch. In Christianity, lucifer is a fallen angel who was cast down from heaven for challenging god. he was damned to an eternity in hell and became the devil, or Satan thus this symbol's other name the seal of Satan.
