Lammas: Lammas, also known as Lughnasadh, is celebrated on August 1st, marking the first of three harvests of the year, particularly the harvest of grain (wheat, barley, etc.), often communally celebrated with bread, beer, and games. The days are growing shorter, though the heat of the sun is at its peak. Before settling into the darker months, we can take this time to appreciate the warmth and abundance we still have around us. By honoring Lammas, we honor our ancestors and all of the hard work they put in to simply survive and preserve. We receive these blessings with gratitude for the bounty of food around us that will keep us going through the colder months.

To celebrate Lammas consider decorating your altar, baking bread, harvesting from your garden, learning how to can and preserve fresh foods, and lighting candles. A reflection and gratitude practice is especially pertinent at this time. Consider what you can energetically harvest from your experience and growth over this last year or these last few months.
