November Card Pull:
Card: Hellebore (Helleborus)
Deck: Southern Botanic Oracle by: Stacey Williams-Ng
Reader: Salem Elder
Hellebore, from the family Ranunculaceae, is a perennial flowering plant of which 20 species can be found. Specifically, Hellebore is a poisonous plant and, when handled improperly, can have severe side effects such as contact dermatitis, Vomiting, nausea and other unpleasant issues. Fortunately, Hellebore has a down season that begins in November. As Fall comes in and the crisp air of the mountains winds its way through the peaks and valleys, Hellebore seeds can be safely handled, and the plant can be safely removed or transplanted with proper protection.
Hellebore is here to remind us that, amid this seasonal change, we do NOT have to keep holding on to what no longer serves us. We must remember that we are NOT our past. While we may have gone through the ringer, and while we may have dealt with unimaginable stresses, traumas or trials…we are still here to see the leaves turn gorgeous shades of red, yellow and orange. We made it here, to another changing of Seasons, and we should be proud for all the work we’ve put in to do so!
Allow old and toxic relationships to cease with Hellebore, and clear yourself a space to create healthier, happier energies. You don’t have to allow others to get into your head or under your skin, if you don’t want them there. You are your own being, and nothing can take this from you. You are healing and healing often asks that you remove the toxic influences from your life. So again: Be proud of yourself. Be proud of the work you’ve put in to grow and see past those deceptively pretty petals that Hellebore presents. Not all things pretty are meant to help ease you in life, and while the temptation to turn back for one final look was there…. you chose forward motion. Continue to do so and see what the month of November holds for you, my dear!
