Our formula contains genuine High John the Conqueror root. The root that this oil is named after was traditionally carried as lucky amulet. The root’s namesake was said to be John the Conqueror, a legend in African American folklore. John, said to be the son of an African king, was captured as a slave. He was described as never being subservient and outwitting his captors. There is an old blues song “My John the Conquer Root” written by Willie Dixon and recorded by Muddy waters in 1964 that perfectly encapsulates the power of High John the conqueror root.
